yay

Mr. Hiaasen is about to set his second kid-friendly book loose upon the masses.

I'm not intending to read it - don't need more tales of environmentally-minded children in Florida trying to thwart a wrong (casino boat operator dumping sewage into the ocean) being done. Foibles. Nutty-but-lovable characters. Etc.

But don't let me stop you.

Another book I'm not planning to read (this is a cheering post!) is the new Pigeon book. Really -- isn't it an established GIVEN he likes things that go, such as busses?

I understand people are clamoring for more pigeon books, but I think the originality was spent in the first and any follow-ups are going to be disappointing.

Yes, but it's called A Smidgeon of a Pigeon! Ha! (Pea has it. It's a board book.)

A new board book (as opposed to the original Pigeon being condensed into a board book) is something I can deal with, especially if it meets with JoJo's approval.

I didn't necessarily say I approved, but I have to support most uses of the word "smidgeon."

If you've read Mr. Willems manners book, Time to Say Please, you will no doubt shout from the mountaintops with a most satisfying feeling of righteousness, "This book sucks!" I do believe it is past time to use the phrase, "sold out."

He's also released a new book about a monster who cannot scare people. I don't know if it is any good --

I saw the manners book -- bleaughk.

Another new release is Munro Leaf's (of Ferdinand fame) How to Speak Politely and Why. I thought the man was dead!
