Sendak's Opera ready to go -

Sendak reads from Brundibar (NYTimes).

Did anyone read it? I'd love to see the opera.

I haven't read it, but I noticed it's playing at the Rep until March 5.

I read it. It's riddled with cartoon-bubble conversations, which, if you ask me, is distracting. Every page was pretty crowded. I'm curious about the opera, however.

I read it when it first came out and was not impressed. Like our favorite JoBiv, I found it crowded and busy and dare I say boring. I'm not even really curious about the opera, either. Am I a bad hedgehog?

Well, I don't know how ideal it was for Sendak to make a picture book out of an opera and then turn that picture book back into an opera.

If only all the world was put through a Sendak filter!
